Five Miradouros for Sunset Photos in Lisbon

Lisbon's hills mean every neighbourhood has a miradouro, but not all of them earn a special trip at sunset. Here are the five we actually bring guests to, in the order we visit them on a typical golden-hour walk.

1. Miradouro da Senhora do Monte

The highest viewpoint in the city and, in our opinion, the best. Arrive 45 minutes before sunset to get a spot along the wall — it fills up fast in summer. Faces west-southwest, so the castle and river both catch the light.

2. Miradouro das Portas do Sol

Lower and closer to the river, with the Alfama rooftops in the foreground. Good for a wide shot with the 25 de Abril bridge in frame on a clear day.

3. Miradouro da Graca

Shaded by pine trees, with a kiosk if the group wants a coffee before the light turns. We usually stop here on the way up to Senhora do Monte.

4. Cais das Colunas

Down at river level in Praca do Comercio — the only spot on this list facing east, so it works best just after sunset for the blue-hour reflection shot.

5. Elevador de Santa Justa (top platform)

Busy, but worth the queue once for the rooftop view over the Baixa grid. We save this one for groups who want a single dramatic wide shot to close the tour.
